Speaking to the sub-conscious
All of our habitual and controlling thinking resides in what we can call our subconscious mind. These thoughts and responses are learnt from our life experiences, particularly in our early formative years. They determine how we will react to the uncertainties in life. But some of these responses to life may be negative and harmful to us. For example, we may turn to drink, drugs or over-eating when life becomes too stressful.
Hypnotherapy is a gentle way of encouraging our subconscious mind to think positively and overcome any habitual negative thinking that is creating problems for us. Combining hypnosis and relaxation in therapy will combat stress, anxiety and tensions without side effects or medication. It will improve our sleep pattern and our ability to handle stress.
The aim of hypnotherapy is to put us back in control of our lives by reducing our anxiety. We can then use our conscious mind, which is our positive solution-seeking mind, to get our life back on track towards achieving our goals.
While we are in the trance state, our subconscious mind is very receptive to positive and healing suggestions. These suggestions are able to be absorbed by our mind much more deeply than when we are in the normal, awakened state. As a skilful hypnotherapist I will work with you using careful questioning to determine which hypnotic suggestions will have the most beneficial effect.
